“young krakodile is looking for a friends”
Crocodile is playing tic-tac-toe with himself. A strange creature is wandering around clumsily, kicking smashed plastic bottles, lost in questions of self-identification. Together, in the spirit of disappointment, they try to get rid of boredom. They are building a House of Friendship from forgotten tape cassettes, worn carpets, and their fragile beliefs. Who will come to the festive opening?
ČBRŠK is an excursion to the periphery of life in post-socialist context; to the place where early hopes for a bright future had given way to stagnation and uncertainty. By engaging with personal memories and a plot of popular Soviet children’s story from 1966, PYL members reimagine the life of its iconic characters and reflect on their own eastern european identity. The scenography draws inspiration from the aesthetics of post-socialist interiors and exteriors, as well as by the phenomenon of so called “ЖКХ-арт” (“utilities-art”)—which refers to the trend of decorating housing estate yards and playgrounds with cheap or found materials. This ironic social drama explores the delicate nuances of marginal existence, capturing moments of both hope and disillusionment.
