In this chamber musical PYL group looks back on childhood and remixes its motifs. Having had a childhood is something we all have in common, it is the place we come from. It is a time of tensions: we had strong imagination and desires and at the same time learned so many limitations from society, adults or other children.

Childhood, often described as a ‘carefree time’, easily lets pop-up many dark undertones and traumas. Inspired by school activities, the aesthetics of school crafts and the format of class performances, PYL re-examines childhood motifs. The initial inspiration were personal kindergarten experiences in Minsk, coming along with post-Soviet melancholy and strong hierarchical structures. Another group member is developing the scenic ideas from childhood in a Catholic village in Bavaria. The group comes across unifying themes such as: celebrations in harmony with the seasons, the fun and tragedy of dressing up and role-playing, feelings of loneliness and small rebellions invented as a child on a level where a teacher can not interfere.

A contemporary abstract language was found for this, which should give the viewer plenty of space to reflect for themselves, to remember embarrassing or wonderful moments.
